Here in Utah, its time for ripe peaches. Since peaches are so good, I thought that it probably wouldn’t be too hard to make something good out of peaches. I looked through all my cookbooks, and spent a while searching online before deciding on a recipe. The recipe I chose was “Peaches and Cream Tart” from the pink Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. It was delicious!

What is a tart? I didn’t know the formal definition either, but according to Wikipedia: it’s a type of pie, with an open top. From other tarts I’ve seen, I would say they’re usually made with fruit and are usually thinner than a pie too. Here’s a pic to illustrate:

I’ve been making No-Bake Cookies since I was a kid. I think this was the first recipe that I learned how to make. By the 3rd or 4th grade, I had it memorized. I still have it mostly memorized but I refer to the recipe to make sure that I get it right.

For some reason, nobody can seem to make them the same as me. My mom has tried and failed (and she even taught me how to cook them!), and my wife has tried and failed as well! So, I will TRY to impart my wisdom so that you can make yourself a treat.

There seem to be a lot of variation on No-Bake Cookies: some people add coconut, peanut butter, and whatever else — but I just like mine plain. Its a simple recipe, using only six ingredients, and its from an old Riverton, Utah ward cookbook.

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 13 Inch Round Grill Pan (Amazon.com)

This is one of my favorite pans. I use it to cook all kinds of meat on the stove-top. I’ve cooked steaks, pork chops, hamburgers, and even bacon on it. The grill lines it leaves on the food make you look like a fancy chef too.

Some cooking tips for this pan below…

One of my favorite variations on chocolate chip cookies is adding oats. My other favorite is butterscotch chips, but that was already covered here (link). The oats add chewiness, texture, and some additional flavor to enhance the cookie. This recipe came from Nestle, on the back of a bag of chocolate chips (link).

Yeah, I went a little overboard with the pictures. So sue me! :)

How many ways can you prepare chicken? I have my usual methods, but was looking for something new to try that would be easy and tasty. I found this recipe for Honey Baked Chicken. The chicken is baked in a sauce of honey, butter, and a touch of mustard. As you can see from the picture, it looks real dandy, but how did it taste? Read on…

Scones are a world of confusion. Here in Utah, most people know a scone as deep fried bread, like the base for Navajo Tacos. There’s even a fast-food restaurant chain based on it called Scone-Cutter. It seems that in other parts of the world, everyone knows the kind of scone in this recipe — the British scone. According to wikipedia, a scone is a quick bread, like a biscuit.

I found this recipe a while ago and it looked delicious so I bookmarked it. It looked really good, and it also used yogurt as an ingredient which was interesting. Then, when I wanted to make it, I couldn’t find it! A few days ago I found it again, so I decided to just make it right then and there. The recipe is from Baking Bites, another cooking blog.

The scones turned out delicious, and I would highly recommend them! Recipe is below…
